Short: Converts OctaMED SS mods to XM's, V1.25

General
=======
MED2XM is a small shell utility to convert OctaMED Sound Studio modules
(MMD1, MMD2, MMD3) to XM (FastTracker 2) modules. Usage is simple:
at the shell prompt type
MED2XM <OctaMED module file name>
and the program will create a new XM module, appending ".xm" to the
output file name.
What it can do
==============
The program can convert an OctaMED module to an .xm, with certain limitations.
It may also create a faulty .xm module which will crash your player program
when you try to play it, but this shouldn't happen, in general. However I
can't guarantee there aren't any bugs left...
What it can't do
================
It can't convert a module that has
* more than 32 channels (since this is the XM limit)
* patterns that have more than 128 lines (same reason)
* 16-bit samples sound bad because they're not processed right,
this will be fixed soon... for now you'll have to change them
to 8-bit
* synthetic or hybrid instruments
* MIDI instruments
* multiple songs
* other similar weirdnesses I may have forgot
What it doesn't care
====================
The converter totally ignores panning. This is a problem since OctaMED
modules have a panning specified for each track, but FT2 has them for
each instrument.
It's likely that some special commands aren't implemented properly. I'm
working on it.
By the way, it DOES convert arpeggios and some other things ok, the reason
you can't hear them with Amiga XM players is that for some reason they don't
seem to play arpeggios at all. Ping-pong loops seem to be ignored too, but
don't worry, they're there if you listen to the XM with a PC or something (at
least this is what i've been told).
New in V1.25
============
The produced .xm modules will now work when played with Mikmod or other
players based on Mikmod (e.g. Ultramod). There was a problem which caused
Mikmod to crash... actually i think it was a feature of Mikmod XM loader.
Thanks to Urban Mueller for help with this.
Note
====
Use this program at your own risk. I won't be responsible of ANY known
damage it might cause.

==========
If you find bugs or tunes that won't get converted right/at all, please
e-mail me about them. If possible, just tell where I can find the problematic
OctaMED module, instead of e-mailing it to me ('coz I'd probably get giga-
bytes of them). And of course, if you think this is a brilliant utility,
i don't mind getting some positive feedback either.
